A practical field guide for cutting through complexity and finding the problems worth solving.
“The Bear Co. approach helped us move from isolated and scattered issues to a clear, shared view of our most important, solvable Problem Spaces. Using Business Journey Mapping and the 4+1 lenses, we were able to prioritize, agree on where to focus, and gain confidence in how to move forward. What made the biggest difference was the clarity and alignment this created across our organization. The Bear Co. team combined real expertise with a way of working that made the whole process both effective and enjoyable.”

The Experiences Behind Business Framing
It often starts with everyone full of thoughts and ideas. Ambitious goals, identified opportunities, anticipation of better times. Big, high level plans requiring lots of daily decisions.
And at the same time, tight resources, scattered focus, work spread thin. Eager starts. Projects piling up.
The same people pulled into too many things, everyone with full plates and too little time to make a proper push on any of them. Interest fades. Engagement weakens.
Everyone knows that success is about choosing what not to do. So that attention and resources can be directed to what is vital for progress.
But making those choices is hard and often not done with enough conviction. When priorities remain open and effort spreads in all directions, work may be busy but impact stays small.
The sum of a great strategy and dedicated people can still be a feeling of total exhaustion and lack of progress.
These were some of our early thoughts on the human side of why Business Framing was needed.
Because business results depend on how clearly everyone can see what is worth solving, and to what extent their effort, time and attention should go there. Over the years, we learned that the hard part is not coming up with ideas. The hard part is creating a shared view of what really needs attention. Once that clarity exists, it is still hard work, but you can see the progress.
First, it was not meant to be shared to others. For us, it was just a reminder to slow down, take a wider look, and build understanding before jumping into solutions. We used it in our work, refined it with our clients, and noticed how much it helped.
Seeing it helping our clients so much, we realised it was not just for us. It was no longer our memo.
So we turned it into something others could use, our first Bear Co. Field Guide: Business Framing.
We believe in the minimum dose for maximum effect. When writing the Field Guide, we kept busy people in mind. It is meant to be a practical way to build shared clarity, see the same big picture, and move forward with confidence.
Simple enough to start with, structured enough to make a difference.
If you have ever felt that progress slips away somewhere between strategy and action, this one is for you. It is for people who care about moving from intent to impact without losing themselves in the noise.
We hope you can find a quiet moment to pause, read, and reflect on the Field Guide.
We would love to hear what you think once you have had a chance to read it. Please share your thoughts on LinkedIn or write to us directly. Your reflections help us make the next guides even more practical and useful.
Warm regards,
